Hi, I’m Mariya, type & graphic designer with the background in art and illustration. Welcome to my portfolio and creative space on the web.
“I believe in curiosity and tolerance, the pursuit of wonderful and unknown.”
Mariya was born on the 18th of September 1985 in Minsk, Belarus or Byelorussian SSR at that time. Her creative journey began as an art trainee with V. I. Kolomiets, the professor at the Belarusian State Academy of Arts. With his help and encouragement, Mariya enrolled on the design course at BSAA. In 2006 she moved to the UK and continued her studies at the Teesside University in Middlesbrough, the famous industrial part of England and birthplace of explorer, navigator and cartographer Captain James Cook. Mariya graduated with BA and MA in graphic design and illustration. In 2012 she completed an apprenticeship with TNB type foundry and joined the creative team as a type designer.
In 2014 she moved to Wylam, a picturesque village in the heart of Northumberland, England. It is famous for being the birthplace of George Stephenson, one of the early railway pioneers, and a home to Wylam Winter Tales Festival, where Mariya volunteers as a creative director and hosts a regular calligraphic workshop.
Mariya is an enthusiastic photographer with a passion for art. She currently volunteers as a photographer at the Community Rail Partnerships. In her spare time, she loves to travel, explore nature and cities with her son and read as much as possible.
